  • Voice over, but not necessary
  • Info graphics and map images
  • Information on characteristics that are specific

The video must not contain:

  • Offensive language or content
  • Copyrighted material such as music or images

The winners will be selected by the dev team at Expansive Worlds AB. The winning videos will be posted on www.thehunter.com, Facebook. TheHunter’s YouTube channel, and every now and then, other social channels.

You submit your entry by posting it in this thread in the forum.

Howdy hunters!

The Hunting Bonanza has started and a lot of you seem to engage in the daily festive events. Make sure you collect all stars to win the highest grade trophy. We can assure you that the trophy looks great. And remember, you do not need to finish in the top three to get a star in the competitions, just submit a valid entry. You need to earn at least three stars to get a Holiday trophy.

We’re aiming to release the new features Erik told you about in last weeks status update tomorrow, but since Stockholm’s been attacked by masses of snow the last 12 hours no one knows if we will be able to get in to the office tomorrow. It took Pim 4 hours to get in to the office today. It usually takes him 40 minutes.

The subway in Stockholm today

Robert and Herman is working on a revamp of the web platform. This isn’t something you’ll notice for quite some time, but it’ll be a vast improvement of your experience on the website in the future.

Happy Hunting!

Game Update

Features
* 10 all new Blacktail Deer Missions – Help EHR legend “HoneyBee” get the exploding Blacktail population under control.
* Blacktail Deer Antler improvements – Antlers should now visually match better with what they score. In addition to this we have also added a new world record antler and made a couple improvements to the visual appearance of already existing antlers.
* New Unknown Gender Icon – Previously the male icon was always displayed in the HunterMate for tracks where the gender was not know. This created some confusion so we now display a brand new “Unknown Gender” icon instead. Once the gender has been identified the icon change to a gender specific icon for all the following tracks. This change applies to all species.

Bug Fixes
* Exit trophy shot random crash fix.
* Weapon ammo crash fix. (could happen when moving weapons and ammo in the inventory)
* Tracking age information is now in game time instead of real world time
* All unit information in the Confirm Kill Screen has been converted to the metric system. – This is part of the process of adding “measurement system” as an option. Imperial will be added in a later update.
* Fixed a bug caused by the “weight to score decoupling” where the visual appearance of antlers sometimes would deviate somewhat from the score. – This bug affected all species that do not have weight as part of their score.

Finally Wednesday!

We have to start off with an apology, the promised game update won’t happen until tomorrow. We’re terribly sorry about this, but remember, good things comes to those who waits 😉

Our talented intern, Erik, wanted to share with you what he’s been working on.

Happy Hunting!

Erik:
Lately I’ve been working on improving the interaction between animals and environment, something that’s been pretty non-existing until now.
When this feature gets released (planned to be handed to you as soon as next week) you’ll find that there’s sound and visual effects when animals walks and runs through water and there will also be sound effects when they move through bushes.

You’ll be able to hear the sounds from a bit further distance than you currently can hear their footsteps from, but the visual water effects should be visible from quite a distance. Red Feather Falls will surely be the best place to experience these new effects so I highly recommend you to go on a hunt there once these features are released.

All this should not only make the game seem a bit more real, but also help you determine from what direction an animal approaches.
Who knows, this might even save a few lives from moose cows charging from unexpected angels!

Status update

Another week has passed and we’re hoping that you hunters are still enjoying playing the game as much as we are developing it.

We had a small sale on em$ over the weekend, and we were happy to see that some of you took advantage of that offer. The countdown to Thanksgiving is up and running and we can see that a lot of you are in on the new competitions. We will end the week with a pretty pleasant surprise.

We’re spending a lot of time on preparing for the Christmas campaign that will be launched December 1st. We’re very excited about that and we hope you are too.

The next Game Update is scheduled for Wednesday next week and will include the Blacktail TruRACS update, and along with it also a new mission-pack for Blacktail!

And we just want to remind you all that the best Christmas gift to a loved one is a theHunter membership, so use the gifting option in the Hunter store to share the joy of hunting online 😉

Countdown to thanksgiving

Even if it’s only our hunters from the US that celebrates thanksgiving this week we thought it was a fantastically good reason for us to have a countdown to celebrate this fine holiday. So we’ve set up no less than four turkey hunt competitions. A new one starting every day until Thursday.

Thanksgiving trophy

Turkey hunting is free for all players until Thursday!

We’ve also put together a pretty sweet offer related to this. A turkey bundle, containing:
12 GA Side by side Shotgun
3×12 GA Shells (Birdshot)
Turkey Box Caller
All of this at 25% off the original price.

If you only want the Side by side Shotgun, the 12 GA Shells (Birdshot), or the Turkey Box Caller, you can get those for 20% less until Thursday.

Happy turkey hunting!

Status update

So it’s finally Wednesday again and time for an update.

As some of you might already have seen on Twitter and Facebook we were celebrating yesterday and the reason for this was the fact that we reached an important milestone earlier this week. TheHunter now has over one million registered players. This is truly an amazing achievement and we’re happy that our beloved game has attracted such a vast number of people. This doesn’t mean we’ll lean back and start taking it easy, but quite the opposite. Next milestone is 2 million registered hunters and we hope you, our dedicated community, will keep helping us reach that goal.

From what we can see a lot of you seems to be enjoying the new Tripod. We hope you are as satisfied using it as we were creating it for you.

We would also take the opportunity to thank all of you who have helped us out by completing the user survey. Your answers will help us in further development of the game.

The team is working hard on new content and features. We will have a TruRACS update fairly soon and we’re working on some new bow arrows to be released sometime in December. Next week is Thanksgiving in the US, so we will have an event starting next week based on that theme.

That’s all for this week, happy hunting!

Help us improve theHunter

We have created a user survey that we hope you, the community, are interested in helping us complete. The reason for this survey is so we can learn a bit more about you, as a group, and what you want. The information you provide will not be stored with your account details, so we will not be able to track your answers back to you.

The answers you provide will, together with your suggestions in the forums, guide us in the right direction for further development of theHunter.

The survey is now closed!

Thanks to all of you who helped us out by completing the survey!
